About PhD in Sweden
Finding a PhD position in Sweden shouldn't feel like navigating a maze. PhD in Sweden exists to make that journey simpler — bringing together open doctoral positions from universities across Sweden in one clear, searchable place.
The story behind it
I'm Simeon, and I know this problem firsthand. I moved to Sweden from abroad in 2020 to do my master's, and somewhere along the way a PhD started feeling like a real possibility. When I began looking into it, I quickly ran into the same wall most applicants hit: there was no single place to search. Instead, I found myself subscribing to job alert emails from every university I was interested in, piecing things together manually.
Eventually I thought — I could just build this. So I did. I created an aggregator that pulls PhD listings into one place, mostly just to solve my own problem. What surprised me was that, without any promotion, other people started finding it and finding it useful. That reaction told me this was something worth building properly.
What we're building
Sweden is home to some of the world's leading research environments — Karolinska Institutet, KTH, Lund, Uppsala, and many more. Whether you're already in Sweden or applying from abroad, PhD in Sweden helps you find the right opportunity without the noise.
Alongside listings, we publish practical guides on what it's actually like to pursue a PhD in Sweden — from funding and stipends to visas, housing, and Swedish academic culture.
We don't charge universities to list positions, and we don't charge applicants to find them.
